Air Handlers

The heart of your air distribution system.

If your ductwork is the highway, the air handler is the engine. This indoor unit houses the blower motor and evaporator coil that move conditioned air through your home. When it's matched properly to your outdoor unit, your whole system runs quieter, more efficiently, and more evenly. When it's old or mismatched, you get uneven temperatures, higher bills, and shortened equipment life.

Why you'll love it

The benefits

Even, whole-home airflow

A properly sized blower motor delivers balanced air to every register, eliminating the hot and cold spots that plague homes with weak or aging handlers.

Quieter operation

Modern variable-speed blower motors ramp up and down smoothly instead of clanking on at full blast — you barely notice them running.

Better efficiency

Variable-speed motors use less electricity than older single-speed models, especially during low-demand periods when the system runs at reduced speed.

Protects your outdoor unit

A matched air handler ensures your outdoor condenser or heat pump operates at rated efficiency — and keeps your manufacturer warranty intact.

Signs & signals

Is it right for you?

If any of these sound familiar, it may be time for a closer look.

  • Airflow feels weak or uneven across different rooms
  • Your blower motor is noisy or runs constantly
  • You're replacing your outdoor AC or heat pump unit
  • Your evaporator coil is corroded, leaking, or frozen
  • Your system is 12+ years old and still has the original handler

How it works

1

The blower draws air in

A motor-driven fan pulls return air from your home through the filter and into the air handler cabinet.

2

Air passes across the coil

In cooling mode, the evaporator coil absorbs heat and humidity; in heating mode (with a heat pump), the coil releases warmth into the air stream.

3

Conditioned air enters the ducts

The blower pushes the now-heated or cooled air into your supply ductwork, distributing it to every room with a register.

4

The cycle repeats

As room air returns through the thermostat's feedback loop, the handler continues cycling until your set temperature is reached.
